Public Power
|
The Green Party has run an active campaign against deregulation and for public power throughout the State.
We have
formed coalitions in San Diego and statewide to educate and mobilize people on the issues surrounding the energy "crisis",
participated in press conferences and protests against
the bailout of the utilities who brought us the failed deregulation
law, and
organized rallies and lobbying to promote renewables
and conservation and to urge the city of San Diego and the city of San
Francisco to establish municipal utility districts.

South Bay Peaker Plants Debate
A number of peaker plants are expected to be built in the South Bay area of San Diego County. Members of the South Bay local
of the Green Party have been very active on this issue and they have
recently addressed the Chula Vista City Council on their concerns about
the great number of "peaker" plants that are planned for the South Bay
region. The South Bay local has been
following up on the debate over these plants and have warned of the
unimaginable amounts of pollution that will be added to the San Diego
Air Basin
when these plants are all up and running.
