The elections are over but the Greens are preparing for 2004! Our goal is to strengthen our volunteer and registered voter base, be more visible within the communities, work on electoral reform and anti-war campaigns, and educate voters on issues. To do all this, we need your involvement. Choose from any of the following:

Research Team

Electoral ResearchThis team is responsible for researching the voting records of representatives in Congress, finding out about the contributors of certain candidates, tracking initiatives or bills, researching precinct demographics, locating list of open positions on local boards and commissions.

Issues ResearchWe need volunteers or interns who are interested in doing research on issues and to write small articles or a few paragraphs about the Green Party position in each instance. The main issues that we need help in are instant runoff voting, campaign financing, US foreign policy, affordable housing, living wage, corporate reform, energy and sustainability, gay and lesbian rights, education. These will be used in developing the issues pages of our website, providing research for local campaigns and in preparing flyers and pamphlets for the Green Party.

Resources ResearchHelp us put together training resources and information for new volunteers, gather list of local media, list of student groups, and help us strengthen our group by providing volunteers with better resources.

Educational Outreach

Organize speakers forums or video showingsThe Education group often organizes forums on particular issues of importance to the community and to the Greens. We always need help coordinating the various aspects of the organization of such forums (e.g., inviting speakers, finding a venue, developing flyers, ordering books, advertising event, etc.).

Organize discussion circles or reading groupsThere is great interest in discussing issues and providing various perspectives. We need help organizing discussion groups on topics relevant to the Green Party platform and providing alternative viewpoints to the current issues. This is crucial educational work in a society where the media fails to provide alternative perspectives and all the facts.

Visibility and Promotion


LeaflettingFor each major event that we organize, we need a group of volunteers to distribute flyers to advertise the event. Flyers can also be left in cafes, bulletin boards, community centers and in campuses.

TablingHelp us table at various events and high-traffic locations in your neighborhood; hand out literature and Green Party campaign material; educate people about the Green Party values and help us be visible in your community. The tabling coordinator will provide you with a list of places and "Green-friendly" events to table at.

Graphic Art, DesignWe need artists to design and prepare flyers, posters, signs for demonstrations and logos. Artists are also needed for designing Green Party of San Diego County merchandise.

Precinct Organizing


Precinct WorkPrecinct work consists of going door to door or tabling at a public location with the goal of talking to people about the Green Party message, platform and candidates. Each volunteer will be given the necessary fliers, brochures and resources for organizing in precincts. The goal is to target a particular precinct and outreach to as many members and non-members as possible before the elections.

The Green Party does not have the money and resources that major parties have at their disposal and our focus is to work at the grassroots by talking to people directly. This is very important and we need many volunteers for this task.

Phone-bankingPhone-banking consists of calling up registered Greens and/or members of the community and informing them of our candidates or of upcoming events. Phone-bank volunteers often fundraise as well when calling up party members.

Office Work


Database Maintenance and General Office For those who don't like talking to people, organizing campaigns and debating politics, yet want to help the Green Party grow, we always need help at our office. You can volunteer for database or website maintenance, filing and taking merchandise inventory.

Holding Office Hours We also need people to fill in office hours, answer phones and take messages. If you can be in our office regularly during certain hours, please let us know.
