(*) indicates GPSD CC member 1) Interpretative Dance/State Issues (Aaron Lipke) a) the big state-level fundraiser will be a GPLA/GPCA mailer b) GPCA/GPUS joint mailer is possible c) Nader will be here soon d) Magali Offerman now on state finance committee e) 5/4-5 is the state plenary in Fresno; state budget is on the agenda f) electoral reform working group has funds that have rolled over and they want to give $$ to an IRV campaign in San Francisco; this has raised some eyebrows g) Michael Moore will give royalties to places that host his book tour h) Santa Monica Greens worried about Proposition 40 i) Rumors of a "unity movement" in Riverside are false. j ) if you want people of color, go to their churches 2) Minutes Approval (Carl Sachs) Deferred; minutes should have sent out on-line prior to seeking CC approval. Carl agreed to (a) send minutes out on-line, (b) solicit approval through on-line vote and (c) solicit approval from council members without e-mail access. 3) Treasurer's Report (Micki Adams) $212 adjustment in balance statement from most recent check clearance. Current balance is $2169.22. No income since 1/8/02. $250 in uncashed check from SDSU Greens; Micki will try and contact Jared about this. 4) Plenary Report (Ric Newberry) Report posted on-line. Delegates need compensation (John, Michele, Aaron, Jodi, Ric, Tammy). 5) Discussion of joint mailer Possibility of a GPCA/GPSD mailer. Not clear if there's a net plus or not. Pros: There are 9,243 registered Greens in San Diego. If there's a a mailer, we get from the state a list of donors and list of invalid addresses, plus a cut of the proceeds. Cons: not clear how much $$ we'll actually get. How this works: two CDs are available from the registrar. We can get one, state can get one. Caveats: professional quality is very important. Not much interest in doing the mailer ourselves. CC consensus: YES in support of the mailer, but CONDITIONAL pending more details (how much of a cut do we get, how will it get done, etc.) 6) Delegation of duties and responsibilities Proposed that we hold officer election at next GM. Passed (next GM is 3/17, Joyce Beers, at 5 pm). Separate announcement needed for election from GM announcement; also post it on the web-site. Duties: Co-chairs (gender balanced) in six month terms Secretary Treasurer Calendar Keeper (*) Membership Coordinator/County Contact Person Media Contact (*) (*) indicates these posts have not been filled since they were created; these tasks were taken on as needed for specific projects Following nominations and votes, the following persons were elected as officers: Co-chairs: Aaron Lipke and Jodi Beebe Secretary: Carl Sachs Treasurer: Micki Adams Calendar-Keeper: no election; Magali Offerman is unofficial CK Media Contact: Jodi Beebe Membership Coordinator: Aaron Lipke County Contact: John Delahanty (phone); Magali Offerman (email) Some concern about people "doubling up", but Aaron and Jodi think they can do it. 7) Discussion of Regional Meeting with Imperial County CC (Aaron Lipke) Arranged for 16 March 2002. Michael Boorstin and Peggy Lewis want to help facilitate; Kevin McHuen and Joe Chamberlain (both from GPCA) want to visit. Aaron Lipke will be the official liason. Need to communicate with ICCC (a) where? (e.g. half-way between us, or over there, or here) and (b) agenda? 8) Camejo Update and other candidates (Lupita Jimenez) Camejo/Copeland debate went well; some Libertarians and one Democrat re-registered as Greens afterwards. Article in Union-Tribune was objective and fair. Sunday brunch was good but small. Camejo spoke with the board of supervisors on his 4 big planks; Living Wage didn't go over too well. Ric Newberry: Two Green nominees for controller, Laura Wells and David Blanco. Wells has history of working with the Greens; Blanco is largely unknown, no GPUS affiliation. Alameda County contacted us and asked us to endorse Wells. GPSD CC agreed to officially endorse Wells and get the word out on Wells on web (Magali). Jodi agreed to contact Wells. 9) Update on Clean Elections (Aaron, Lupita, Jodi) The campaign badly needs signatures. Meets at Dave's Coffeehouse at 9 am, Saturday mornings; all welcomed to attend. Broad agreement that we should put a lot of energy into Clean Elections after the March primary. Possibility of canvassing on 3/5, 100 feet from polling place. Contact Jodi Beebe for Ancient Forests petition. 10) Earth Day (April 21st) Budget needed (booth? flyers? info?) Estimates: booth will be $350; flyers will be $300. Devote table space to petitions Micki will organize volunteers 11) Voter Registration Lists 2 CDs of registered voters are available free from the city. Decided to ask for one now so we can do phone-banking before the primary, another for later. 12) Possible Nader Visit/Green Fundraiser Nader will have two stops in CA, SF and SoCal. We can get him if we really want. 13) GPSD Database (Aaron Lipke) Aaron is interested in using Filemaker to create a flexible database of SD Greens. ("I know how to use it, that's as good as creatignA.L.) Ambitious, big time-investment but with potentially big benefit. Tammy agrees to help Aaron with mastering Filemaker and putting the database together. CC endorses this project. Meeting adjourns at 8:30 pm.
